2021 Budget target rail expansion, 780 km roads, Job Creation

The 2021 Budget of the Federal Government is designed to drive infrastructure development in Nigeria.

This includes sustaining the ongoing expansion of the rail network to connect the north and the south, as well as the east and the west.

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI said money has been provided for the Port Harcourt rail line and the coastal rail line from Calabar to Lagos.

President BUHARI also said provisions have been made for road construction projects, including the East-West Road and the 2nd Niger Bridge.

He said government was looking at partnering with the private sector to improve the state of infrastructure in Nigeria.

The President said government spending is geared towards lifting up to one hundred million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years.

He said the ongoing engagement of seven hundred and seventy-four Nigerians for a period of three months at sixty thousand naira each is part of his plan to reduce poverty in the country.
