Buhari rules out Forex for Food, Fertilizer imports

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has directed the Central Bank of Nigeria not to provide foreign exchange for the importation of food and fertilizers.

President BUHARI gave the order as the Federal Government rolls out its Economic Sustainability Plan, which aims to strengthen food security in Nigeria.

He gave the directive during a meeting of the National Food Security Council, which was held at the State House in Abuja yesterday.

The President advised private businesses that want to import food to look for their foreign exchange outside the CBN.

The Chief of Staff to the President, Professor IBRAHIM GAMBARI, who briefed newsmen on the outcome of the meeting, said the Council observed that the prices of grains were going down.
