Court strikes out 8 of 15 charges against Nnamdi Kanu

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja has struck out eight of the fifteen terrorism and felony charges preferred by the Federal Government against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice Nyako freed Nnamdi Kanu on the eight counts while ruling on a preliminary objection filed by the IPOB leader.

She held that in the instant preliminary objection application, counts six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve and fourteen have not disclosed any offence by the defendant.

The judge, however, acknowledged that counts one, two, three, four, five, thirteen and fifteen showed some allegations against the IPOB leader, saying the trial of the defendant would proceed on those counts.
