Creative practitioners air their views on FG’s Post-Covid19 Initiative

Federal Government’s approach in helping the creative industry to overcome the challenges of Covid-19 lockdown is generating mixed reactions from stakeholders in the sector.

While those in movie and theatre business welcomed the move, the same cannot be said of some stakeholders in the music business in Nigeria.

Recall that the Federal Government, had through the Minister of Information and Culture, LAI MOHAMMED, set up a stakeholders’ committee to work out a plan for government intervention.

The Post-Covid19 Initiative Committee for the Creative Industry, headed by popular comedian, ALI BABA, submitted its report to the Minister last week Friday.

Movie director and producer CHICO EJIRO has commended the Committee for a good job, and he expects that government would fully implement the recommendations.

Another group that is positive about the government’s post-Covid-19 intervention is the Actors Guild of Nigeria, led by EMEKA ROLLAS.

However; the Chairman of the Copyright Society of Nigeria, TONY OKOROJI, told our correspondent AZUKA ONWUZOR that the music sector was not carried along in the work of the post-Covid-19 committee.
