Ebonyi State Governor, DAVE UMAHI, says desperate politicians are responsible for the increase in killings and kidnappings in the Southeast geopolitical zone.
Governor UMAHI said those sponsoring the increase in crimes in the Southeast cut across the various political parties.
The Governor, who briefed newsmen after a meeting of the Southeast Governors Forum, said governors of all the five states are worried about the security situation in the region.
He said the Southeast Governors are not part of the decision of a recent security meeting by some stakeholders in the region and do not agree with the decisions reached at that meeting.
Governor DAVE UMAHI also used the opportunity to clear the air about an online video purporting to show some persons from the northern part of Nigeria being forced to leave Ebonyi State.
Governor UMAHI said that was not what happened, as the persons involved are members of a family who decided on their own to return to Taraba State.
