The Director General of the Budget Office of the Federal Government, BEN AKABUEZE, has denied saying that the government is broke and cannot afford to pay salaries.
AKABUEZE says concerns by some agencies of government about the payment of salaries is nothing to worry about.
AKABUEZE, who made the clarification on a television programme, said the initial concern was because the new minimum wage was not considered in the 2020 Budget.
However; with three point seven trillion naira for personnel cost in the 2021 Budget, AKABUEZE said government would need to boost its revenue.
AKABUEZE said increasing government revenue would require that every business that is making profit to pay taxes.
