Federal College receives knocks over policy on pregnancy

The management of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy in Enugu is receiving knocks over a directive to pregnant female students to withdraw.

According to a memo signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, NGOZI OKAFOR, the school also threatened to suspend nursing mothers who bring their infant babies to school.

When Lasgidi FM put a phone call to the Office of the Dean of Students Affairs to verify the story, one OLADIMEJI confirmed that the decision was taken to avoid pregnancy complications during academic session.

However; a Lagos-based lawyer, PHIL NNEJI questioned the directive of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy in Enugu.

PHIL NNEJI, who is the Lagos State Chairperson of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, said the action of the Enugu-based college amounts to gender-based violence.
