FG signs petrol import deal with Niger

The Federal Government has signed a deal for the importation and storage of petroleum products from Niger Republic.

The petrol import is meant to come from a fifteen-thousand-barrel excess production by Soraz Refinery in Niger Republics, which has the capacity to produce twenty thousand barrels per day.

However; Niger Republic’s total domestic petrol requirement is about five thousand barrels per day, while leaves the remaining to be transported across two hundred and sixty kilometres across the border with Nigeria.

A spokesman for the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, GARBA DEEN MUHAMMAD, said the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Nigeria’s President MUHAMMADU BUHARI and President MAHAMADOU ISSOUFOU of Niger.
