Fire damages South Africa parliament building

A large fire has severely damaged the Houses of Parliament in the South African city of Cape Town.

Images from the scene showed flames shooting out of the top of one building, sending thick black smoke into the sky above parliament and into neighboring streets.

President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the scene and called it a terrible and devastating event.

Police said a fifty-year-old man was being held and questioned by the authorities.
