INEC recognises Valentine Ozigbo as PDP candidate for Anambra governorship election

More than two million Nigerians have so far taken part in the ongoing online continuous voters registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

INEC also says it has commenced the process of replacing all its facilities that were destroyed in recent violent attacks in the South-East.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, made this known while giving update on preparations for the governorship election in Anambra State.

The venue of the briefing was the third quarterly meeting of the Interagency Consultative Committee on Election Security in Abuja.

Professor Yakubu also revealed that the election in Anambra State will be done using a new technology, which is also capable of electronic transmission of results.

Meanwhile; INEC has confirmed Valentine Ozigbo as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party for the Anambra State governorship election.

The National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, announced in a statement that the decision was reached at the meeting of the leadership of the commission.

Okoye said INEC considered two judgements of the Court of Appeal on the dispute over the PDP candidate, which ordered the commission to recognize OZIGBO for the election on November 6, 2021.
