INEC redeploys 5 REC, others; vows to exercise regulator powers

The Resident Electoral Commissioners for Ogun and Osun states have changes positions, as Olusegun Agbaje moves to Ogun, while Professor Olayinka Raji takes over in Osun.

Agbaje and Professor Raji are among five Resident Electoral Commissioners affected by redeployments approved by the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The changes, which also affected for INEC directors, were announced by the National Commissioner in charge of Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye.

Others are Cyril Omorogbe who was moved as REC in Bayelsa State to serve as REC in Cross River State; while Emannuel Alex Hart moved from Cross River to Bayelsa.

Similarly; Asmau Sani Maikudi has been moved from Zamfara to Kaduna as Resident Electoral Commissioner.

Meanwhile; INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has expressed concerns about the danger of the conflicting court orders to the electoral process.

Speaking at a meeting with party leaders in Abuja, ahead of the governorship election in Anambra State in November, Professor YAKUBU said INEC will play its role as a regulator of political parties.
