LIRS sets January 31st deadline for filing of annual income tax returns

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has set a deadline of January 31 for all businesses and employers in the state to file their annual income tax returns.

The Lirs said the move is in line with Section Eighty-One of the Personal Income Tax Act of 2004, as amended.

The Executive Chairman of the LIRS, Ayodele Subair, said it was necessary to file the tax returns to avoid sanctions.

Subair made this known in a statement by the Public Relations and Media Manager of the LIRS, Adejuwon Osunnuyi.

He also stressed the need for employees and taxable persons within Lagos to generate their taxpayer ID from the e-Tax portal
