Nigerian Army denies recruiting former terrorists

The Nigerian Army has said that it does not recruit former terrorists, and has no plan to do so.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, made the clarification in reaction to such suggestion in a video that was circulated online.

Brigadier General Nwachukwu said the online video by one Young Elder, which was produced by Anthony Jay, attempted to draw conclusion from the collapse of the Afghan military.

He assured that the Nigerian Army under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya will continue to operate within the provisions of the law.

The Army spokesman maintained that surrendered terrorists would be received, processed and handed over to the appropriate government agencies that are responsible for them.
