North Korea fires ballistic missile into Japan’s coastal water

North Korea has fired a suspected submarine-launched ballistic missile into the coastal waters of Japan.

Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida confirmed that two ballistic missiles had been fired in what he called a very regrettable launch.

Authorities in Pyongyang unveiled the missile in January, describing it as “the world’s most powerful weapon”.

This comes weeks after South Korea’s military unveiled a similar weapon of its own.

The latest is among several missile tests by North Korea in recent weeks, including what it said were hypersonic and long-range weapons.
