The People’s Democratic Party has commenced the process of reclaiming the governorship seat in Zamfara State from Governor Bello Matawalle.
The PDP has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to sack Governor Matawalle following his defection to the All Progressives Congress.
According to the suit filed by two Zamfara PDP members, Sani Kaura Ahmed and Abubakar Muhammed, they alleged that Governor Matawalle abandoned the party and has lost his right to remain in office.
They also want the court to order the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct a fresh governorship election in the state within three months, without the participation of the APC.
Meanwhile; Justice Inyang Ekwo has issued an order for the court processes to be served on Governor Matawalle through the National Secretariat of APC in Abuja, and adjourned the matter till July 16 for mention.
