President Buhari unveils rice pyramids in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled the rice pyramids in Abuja to mark the annual rice festival.

During the ceremony, President Buhari said his administration has initiated different policies to diversify the economic through agriculture.

The President said the unveiling of the rice pyramids was an indication that the country is making progress in food security.

Also speaking, the President of Rice Farmers Association of Nigeria, Aminu Goronyo thanked the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria for supporting farmers.

On his part, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, said rice importation has reduced significantly through the encouragement of local rice production.

Meanwhile; five state governors, comprising Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti; Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi; Professor Ben Ayade of Cross River; David Umayi of Ebonyi, and Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, received awards at the event.
