Sudanese government blames former president Bashir associates for failed coup

The Sudanese government says that people linked to former President Omar Al-Bashir were behind today’s failed coup attempt.

A government spokesman blamed those he called forces of darkness for the attempted coup, adding that those involved have been arrested.

Bashir, who had been in power for thirty years, was toppled two years ago.

The present administration involving the military, civilian representatives and protest groups was then established as part of a power-sharing agreement.
