Tanzania gets first female President

Samia Suluhu Hassan has been sworn in as Tanzania’s first female president after the death of John Magufuli from an undisclosed illness.

Hassan who was sworn in as the country’s sixth president, promised to obey and protect Tanzania’s constitution.

The sixty-one-year-old former Vice President from the island of Zanzibar, will finish Magufuli’s second five-year term, set to run until 2025.
