The Nigerian Army has denied claims that it handed over one thousand repentant Boko Haram terrorists to the Borno State government.
The Director of Army Public Relations; Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, described the report as an attempt to spoil the image of the Nigerian Army and discourage troops.
Brigadier General Nwachukwu maintained that terrorist fighters arrested in the ongoing counter terrorism counter insurgency operations in the North East are being held in custody.
The Army spokesman said those who have terrorism and insurgency cases to answer are put on trial, while those who are not implicated are released to the state government for rehabilitation and reintegration into the society
