Former vice president Atiku Abubakar don talk say coalition still be the only way wey Nigeria fit take remove President Bola Tinubu for 2027. But PDP governors no gree with am.
After dem meet for Ibadan, 11 PDP governors under their forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, yarn say dem no go join any merger or coalition. Dem talk say PDP go welcome anybody wey wan join the party, but dem no ready to carry PDP enter coalition with anybody.
But Atiku no shift ground. Him still dey stand gidigba for the coalition matter. He talk say this movement na pan-Nigerian project wey no be only party matter again, na the people own am now. Through him media aide, Paul Ibe, Atiku say make nobody see the governors’ rejection as setback, say things still dey early and more alignment go happen with time.
According to am, the journey start with proper internal polling, and everything show say coalition na the way forward if dem wan take back Nigeria from people wey no mean well. He still talk say even if some governors no gree now, dem go understand later say this movement no fit stop.
Meanwhile, the PDP governors still get their own party issues. Dem say Sunday Ude-Okoye still be the national secretary of the party, but based on Supreme Court ruling, Setonji Koshoedo go act as secretary until the South-East zone nominate another person wey NEC go confirm.
Dem also support Governor Fubara for Rivers State, say the state of emergency matter wey Federal Government dey push na way to scatter democracy. Dem say dem go stand with am till the end.
Dem cry say the security situation for Nigeria dey bad, especially for Borno, Plateau, Katsina, and Edo States. Dem talk say government suppose change strategy and allow local people join for ground defense against attackers.
The PDP governors also don fix May 27 for their NEC meeting and dem plan early national convention for August 28 to 30 for Kano. Dem don name committee heads for zoning and convention planning.
All of this dey happen as PDP still dey face internal wahala wey start since after the 2023 elections, and dem dey try balance party matter with national politics ahead of 2027.
