As political parties don dey gather again for the 2027 election, former presidential candidate for African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, don talk say the kind coalition wey dem dey form now no get head or tail — and instead of challenge President Bola Tinubu, e go just make am easy for am to return back as president.
Sowore yarn dis one for one interview on Tuesday. E say, “Na wetin dem (the coalition) dey do now go make Tinubu run again and win. Dem dey block the real coalition of people wey dey suffer from happening. Nigerians dey distracted — dem think say all these people dey fight for dem.”
Sowore call the current coalition talk “empty”, say e no get any better idea or direction. “No be say na only me dey talk — na the coalition dey lonely. Dem no even fit gather for meeting or agree on which party dem go join. Now dem dey talk say dem wan register new party — that one na sign say dem dey alone. Any coalition wey no get correct sense or character na lonely coalition,” he add.
All these talk dey come as many political people don dey move around to position demself for 2027 election. Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, wey run for president under PDP for 2023, don dey lead opposition waka. E don confirm say e meet with Peter Obi of Labour Party and former Kaduna governor, Nasir El-Rufai, wey just waka comot from APC go Social Democratic Party (SDP).
But the whole coalition matter still get as e be. PDP Governors’ Forum don wash hand commot from the matter, say dem no wan scatter their party. Obi too don talk say him no go join any alliance wey just wan grab power — the alliance must first address Nigeria real wahala with governance.
As for El-Rufai move enter SDP, di party leadership don clear say dem never get any formal agreement with am or Atiku.
Sowore talk say make Nigerians stop to dey depend on all these big politicians, say make dem begin find solution by demself. “People suppose sabi say na only the road wey dem create for demself go work. We need another direction,” e talk.
“If una allow dem continue this way — and una dey distracted with all this coalition talk — una go end up worse than how things be now. Na so Nigeria story don dey since we return to civil rule,” Sowore add.
According to am, “We no get democracy for Nigeria. Wetin we get na transition to civil rule. Wetin we dey find now na correct democracy.”
Sowore also separate real activism from people wey just dey form coalition for their pocket. “Na me be leader of the coalition of the oppressed — no be the coalition of the hungry wey Amaechi and others dey lead,” e talk.
When dem ask am whether Nigerians fit still get hope for the current government, Sowore reply say Nigerians dey suffer and dem no suppose dey suffer like this.
“No, I no believe say hope dey — and I don warn Nigerians. The more una dey hope, the more una go lose. Na Nigerians go decide if dem wan continue to dey suffer. Nobody suppose dey inside this kain wahala wey we dey now.”
