FG Don Pardon 4,000 Prisoners, Save N1bn For Feeding – Minister

Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, talk on Thursday say Federal Government don free over 4,000 inmates from correctional centres to reduce congestion, and e help save N1bn for feeding.

According to am, dem check well well and see say many detainees dey inside because of small small fines, so dem release dem quick.

Tunji-Ojo talk say, “We reduce the number of inmates for correctional centres by five per cent last year. Na so we release over 4,000 inmates for one day after we find out say na small fines put many of dem for prison. Dis move save government N1bn for inmate feeding.”

E still add say for 2024, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad don scatter over 2,125 illegal refineries and oil dumps across Nigeria.

Dem also seize almost 205 trucks wey dey carry illegally refined petroleum, arrest more than 700 people, and secure 345 convictions, while 187 cases still dey court.

Tunji-Ojo talk say, “For 2024, we don break down more than 2,125 illegal refineries and oil dumps. Close to 205 trucks wey dey carry illegal fuel don dey impounded, and over 700 suspects don enter police hand. We don secure 345 convictions, and 187 cases still dey court.”
