La Liga Don Appeal Decision Wey Allow Barcelona Player Olmo To Play Again

Spain La Liga on Monday appeal the decision wey Spanish Sports Council (CSD) make wey allow Barcelona players Dani Olmo and Pau Victor play till the end of the season.

La Liga issue statement talk say them need “urgent judicial response” for the sake of fairness in sports, because the CSD decision “violate” rules wey control the economic operations of La Liga.

CSD, wey suppose settle the matter between Barca and La Liga, rule in favour of the Catalan club on April 3. They say the cancellation of the players’ registration was “null and void,” allowing Olmo (wey join Barca from RB Leipzig last summer) and young striker Victor to play.

La Liga quickly challenge the decision, saying it “no follow the law.” According to La Liga, the players’ licenses, wey dem register temporarily because of injury to defender Andreas Christensen, “automatically expired” on December 31, when Barca still dey try find new ways to get money to meet financial fair play rules.

Barcelona thought they sorted this out in January when they sold VIP boxes at the under-construction Camp Nou to Middle Eastern investors for an estimated 100 million euros ($109 million) over 20 years. But according to La Liga: “No money from the (VIP box deal) show up in their profit and loss accounts, unlike wetin the club and auditor certify at that time.”

CSD gave Olmo and Victor temporary permission to play for Barcelona in January, but their final decision still dey pending.

Barcelona don dey face financial problems for years, and in 2022, dem sell off parts of the club and future TV rights income to buy players like Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha. If La Liga hold this new financial view, spending in the summer transfer window go be hard for Barcelona unless dem sell players first.
