Despite government promise to secure lives, another attack don happen for Zike community, Kimakpa, Kwall district inside Bassa LGA of Plateau State, where 40 people don reportedly die.
According to community leader Wakili Tongwe, the attackers enter di village early Monday morning and start to shoot anyhow. People wey hear gunshot begin run for their lives.
Tongwe say him and some vigilante members with security officials bin dey patrol another village when di gunmen strike. Even though security try fight back, e too late — 36 people die immediately, and 4 others later die from wounds. Plenty others wound and dem dey hospital now.
Dis attack come less than two weeks after 52 people die for Bokkos LGA. Plateau don suffer many attacks like this over the years. For Christmas 2023 alone, 200 people die for one bloody assault on Christian community. In May last year, another 40 people die for Wase.
Experts say na fight between farmers and herders dey cause many of these killings. But Governor Caleb Muftwang no agree completely. E talk say:
“This na genocide wey terrorists dey sponsor. Who dey behind am? Security people suppose help us find out.”
He even reveal say bandits don take over 64 communities for Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, and Riyom, rename dem, and people dey live there like say nothing happen.
Meanwhile, the IG of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, don order immediate deployment of tactical police team to the affected areas, say dem go flush out the killers.
