The number of people wey die for the recent herdsmen attacks for Ukum and Logo LGAs of Benue State don reach 20, according to Governor Hyacinth Alia.
Gov. Alia talk this one for phone call, say:
- At first, dem recover 5 dead bodies for Gbagir, later dem find 2 more.
- For Logo, police recover 12 corpses from the attack.
- All the bodies don dey for mortuary or buried as family request.
Total confirmed deaths: 20 people.
This one dey happen after suspected herdsmen storm the Sankera axis, just shoot people anyhow, especially farmers.
Police say:
“Dem get info say one big group of militia wan attack Gbagir and nearby communities. Police plus other security forces move in immediately, engage the attackers, and recover some bodies.”
Police add say:
- 5 people die for Gbagir
- 12 people die for Logo
- Security agents still dey chase the attackers enter Taraba forest
Social media rumours talk say 100 people die, but Police warn make people no dey spread fake numbers or cause panic.
Gov. Alia still talk say:
“I condemn these attacks. Make people no take laws into their hands. We dey work with security agencies and the National Security Adviser office to end these killings.”
He beg residents:
- Stay alert
- Give correct information to security agencies
- No do jungle justice
Earlier this year, similar attacks happen for Otukpo LGA, wey affect communities like Emichi, Odudaje, Okpamaju, and Otobi, with over 16 people killed in those attacks alone.
