Supreme Court Throwaway Case by 16 States Against FG for EFCC, ICPC, NFIU

Di Supreme Court don thruway case wey de challenge creation of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Independent Corrupt Practices and Commission, and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit.

 

Na Kogi State first carry de matter go Supreme Court, before fifteen others come join body against de Attorney-General of the Federation.

 

But de seven-man panel of Supreme Court, led by Justice UWANI ABBA-AJI, dismiss de case say e no get merit.

De Supreme Court Justice also tok say the states wey file the matter dey wrong to tok say EFCC, ICPC and NFIU, wey them create by acts of National Assembly, be illegal and unlawful creations.

Justice ABBA-AJI and de others justices for di Supreme Court panel come rule say de EFCC Act no be treaty but a convention, wey not need ratification of houses of assembly of the thirty-six states.

 

Other states we join bodi for the case them be Ondo, Edo, Oyo, Ogun, Nassarawa, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, Jigawa, Enugu, Benue, Anambra, Plateau, Cross-River and Niger were granted leave of the Court to join the matter.
