Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, don call Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, wey dey represent Kogi Central, make she bring concrete evidence to back di allegation wey she make against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Adeyanju talk say if Akpoti-Uduaghan no fit provide strong proof, di allegation go just remain ordinary accusation.
E remember say Akpoti-Uduaghan bin accuse Akpabio say e make inappropriate advances towards her when she visit im house for December 2023.
After di allegation, di Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions review di matter and recommend say make dem suspend her for six months. Di Senate later approve di suspension.
Di suspension come with extra punishment—dem go lock her Senate office, stop her salary and allowances, withdraw her security details, ban her from official representation, and restrict her from entering di National Assembly premises during di suspension.
But as Adeyanju dey talk to journalists on Friday, e talk say di matter between Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio don too drag.
E believe say di case suppose go court make dem settle am well instead of distracting Nigerians from bigger issues like di Tax Reform Bill wey fit affect low- and middle-income earners.
Di lawyer still point out say when lawmakers dey share cars, money, and budgetary allocations for National Assembly, nobody hear any fight.
E talk say, “Di matter don too drag. I believe say di two parties suppose carry di case go court make dem settle am. We suppose focus on Nigeria tax reform bill and find way to stop am, because e go affect people pass dis international matter.”
Adeyanju come question why di same senators wey dey fight over dis issue no oppose di anti-people policies of Tinubu government.
E talk say, “Di question be say, when all dis anti-people policies dey happen, why di senators wey dey fight now no talk? Why dem no oppose di bad policies?
“All di times wey dem share cars for National Assembly, we no hear fight. When dem share money and budget allocation, we no hear fight. But now, we dey hear fight.
“I sincerely believe say since Senator Natasha don make dis allegation say Senate President try harass her, she suppose bring solid evidence to prove di matter.
“E easy. Di man don talk say na lie, say e no do anything. So if she get messages—maybe text wey e say ‘oh, abeg come over’—make she show am, expose di man.
