ASUU Don Shut Down Kaduna State University Till Further Notice

Di Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Kaduna State University (KASU) branch, don start indefinite strike on Tuesday because of welfare issues wey government never solve.

Di Chairman of di union, Peter Adamu, and di Secretary, Peter Waziri, talk dis one for statement wey dem release on Tuesday.

According to di statement, di National Executive Council of ASUU don approve di strike, and e go be total, comprehensive, and indefinite.

Di union talk say dem reject di promises wey Kaduna State Government give because e no get clear plan, details, or timeline on how dem go pay di outstanding entitlements wey dem dey owe lecturers.

Dem still talk say di non-payment of withheld salaries na one of di major problems wey dem dey fight for.

Other issues wey ASUU KASU branch dey vex for include:

  • Non-payment of Earned Academic Allowances from 2016 till now
  • Payment of promotion arrears
  • Payment of Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) supervision allowance

Di union also talk say di issue of university autonomy never dey resolved.

Dem still complain about:

  • Non-implementation of 25% and 35% salary awards
  • Non-remittance of pensions from 2009 to 2019
  • Group Life Assurance and benefits wey dem never pay deceased members.
