Popular comedian and filmmaker Ayo Makun don express him concern about di high service charges wey Nigerian commercial banks dey impose.

E question how banks fit dey declare massive profits even as di country economy dey struggle.

For him X page, AY talk say some of di service fees na only Nigeria get am, and e need to be challenged.

E talk say banks suppose dey transparent and fair for dia dealings.

AY write: “Where banks dey get di trillions wey dem dey declare as profit every quarter, even when economy dey struggle? Di small charges and debits wey dey our accounts need to be challenged. Many of these fees na only Nigeria get am. Why e be like dat? #BankingFees #Nigeria #Transparency #Shalom.”

Many Nigerians dey feel say di bank charges too much and dem no clear.

One person wey dey call himself Klean Smith for X talk say one bank collect ₦720 from am for SMS, ₦350 for electronic money levy, and ₦53.45 for ATM card maintenance fee.

E write: “My brother, just yesterday one bank debit me ₦720 for SMS, ₦350 for electronic money levy, and ₦53.45 for quarterly ATM card maintenance fee. To make matter worse, every transfer wey I do, dem dey collect ₦6.69 for USSD code and ₦26.50 for transfer charges. Dis one na real wahala.”

Another user, OjukwuWils, respond to AY complain, ask whether e truly dey vex about di charges or e just dey jealous say banks dey make big profits.

E write: “You dey vex say dem declare trillions as profit, or you really dey vex about di charges? Why NOW? No forget say you sef dey sell VVIP table for 10 at ₦20M. You dey truly care, or you just dey jealous say dem sabi rip pass you?”

Another person, Rachael Ugboma, share her own experience with USSD transactions. She talk say banks dey charge for every attempt, even if di transaction no go through.

She write: “Worst be say if you try use USSD, dem go charge you for every attempt till di transaction succeed. If you try three times and e fail, dem go charge you three times.”
