Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Governor Hyacinth Alia; and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, don vow say dem go put end to the killings wey dey happen for Benue State.
Dem talk dis one on Monday when dem visit Yelwata community for Guma Local Government Area of the state.
Last Friday, some bandits wey dem suspect say na armed herders, attack the community, kill at least 59 people and scatter over 3,000 others from their homes.
During the visit, General Musa order the field commanders from Benue and Nasarawa make dem go review their operations and deal well with anybody wey wan bring wahala.
As him tour the scene of the attack, Musa talk say the continuous attacks don too much and dem must stop am sharp-sharp so peace fit return.
Him come beg the communities make dem work with soldiers with trust so dem fit handle the criminals well.
Him talk say: “We don tire to dey see innocent people dey die. I go meet with my commanders and we go change our strategy. But we no fit do am alone without the community and the state. Some people dey give inside info to these criminals, so we go work with traditional rulers and pastors to stop am.
“We want make this one be the last attack. We go put every effort. We don try am for other places and e work, so this one no go different. Nigerians need to support us. We no go give up this our country. This madness must end and e go end.”
Governor Alia, as him dey brief the CDS and IGP, talk say the killings pain am well-well and e too much.
Him say the visit go bring better relief and peace to the place.
Him talk say: “This kain killing wey dey happen too much. But the presence of the CDS and IGP mean say help don dey come. Even the president dey touched. We get hope say this kain thing no go happen again, not just for this LGA but across Benue.
“We don already begin see more police and army teams, and e go make plenty difference.”
IGP Egbetokun, for him side, show sympathy to the people and promise say the police go do more to protect the area.
Him order make dem deploy more special police units immediately, and give the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of operations power to take over and make sure peace return.
Him talk say: “The people of this community no dey alone. All Nigerians dey support una. One day, these bandits go come like before, but dem no go return. That day dey near.
“We go win this fight. But the community need to cooperate. Una sabi the area, una sabi strangers, una fit notice strange movements. Abeg, help us with information.”
