E talk dis one after Aare Afe Babalola, SAN, di founder of Afe Babalola University, decide to withdraw di cases wey e bin file against am. On January 27, 2025, Babalola gree drop di cases afta di intervention of di Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and some oda big traditional rulers.
Farotimi bin face arrest and dem arraign am for two different courts for Ekiti State afta Babalola write petition wey accuse am of defamation inside him book Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System. Because of dis, dem carry am go Ekiti State Magistrates’ Court for Ado Ekiti for alleged criminal defamation, and Federal High Court for Ado Ekiti for alleged cyberbullying.
Even though police don drop di criminal charges afta Babalola withdraw di case, Farotimi talk say di civil suits still dey. “Di reason why I no fit talk about some part of dis matter na because, even though dem don stop di criminal case, I still get four lawsuits wey I sabi for four different states, wey members of di same law office file against me,” e talk.
E still defend him book, say no be gossip e write, but proper research and wetin e don see for Nigeria judicial system. “I no siddon for beer parlour, I no dey officers’ mess, I no dey gossip. I no just talk anyhow. I write book,” e talk. “Make we check di truth. Anybody fit read di book, den come back come show me di lie wey I talk.”
