The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) don tell MultiChoice Nigeria, wey dey run DStv and GOtv, make dem hold their subscription price for now until investigation about dia proposed tariff increase finish.
FCCPC talk dis one for statement wey dia Director of Corporate Affairs, Ondaje Ijagwu, sign on Thursday.
Dis order come after MultiChoice beg for more time before dem go appear for commission hearing wey dey check dia continuous price increase.
Before, FCCPC don already summon MultiChoice CEO make e show for February 27 for investigative hearing, but now dem don shift di hearing go March 6, 2025. Di commission say di CEO, plus oda important officers, must bring complete response to di matter.
“Based on dis directive, MultiChoice must maintain di subscription price wey dey ground as of February 27, 2025, until FCCPC conclude di investigation and make final decision,” di statement tok.
Di commission tok say di price freeze na to stop any possible way wey consumers fit suffer during dis investigation period.
MultiChoice bin tell dia customers on Monday say dem go change dia pricing structure, say na to continue give beta content. But dis announcement cause concern among subscribers.
Under di planned increase, DStv Compact package price go go up, while Compact Plus and Premium go still remain N30,000 and N44,500, respectively.
