Di Association of Resident Doctors for Federal Capital Territory Administration (ARD-FCTA) don start one three-day warning strike wey begin by 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025.
Di wahala start as di FCT Civil Service Commission accuse 127 doctors say dem run comot work after one staff verification exercise, so dem no pay dem April salary.
For one emergency meeting wey dem hold for Asokoro District Hospital, Abuja, di doctors yan say di decision wey government take to hold salary no get head, e no fair at all, and e don cause serious wahala for di people wey dey affected.
Dem write letter to FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, where dem talk say:
“From 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 6th May 2025 to 8:00 a.m. on Friday, 9th May 2025, we go strike.”
Di association wey represent doctors from 14 hospitals and public health departments under FCTA talk say di government decision na serious insult.
Dem talk say di people wey dem accuse of absconding never stop work and dem still dey do dia job like normal. Dem even vex say di Medical Directors and other oga people no even dey involved for di matter.
Di doctors come ask make dem:
- Pay all di money wey dem hold sharp sharp
- Put back di names of affected staff for salary platform
- Sack di chairman of FCT Civil Service Commission, Engr. Emeka Ezeh
- Give public apology to di affected doctors
- Do disclaimer say di people still dey work well
- Start peaceful protest go FCTA
Dem warn say if dem no answer all di demands, dem go enter indefinite strike.
But even as dem dey vex, dem still praise Wike for di better work wey him dey do for Abuja and how him don approve 315 new health workers – but dem beg make him fast-track di employment.
