Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State don announce serious new measures to tackle the killings wey dey happen across di state. For one state broadcast on Wednesday, he talk say all the attacks na well-planned acts of terror wey aim to chase people from their land and spread fear.
Because of this, the governor don:
- Ban night grazing of cows
- Stop transportation of cattle by motor after 7pm
- Restrict okada movement from 7pm to 6am every day, till further notice
All these rules start immediately from April 16.
Governor Mutfwang say:
“Plateau no go allow fear or bloodshed become normal. Dogo Na Hawa, Riyom, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, and Christmas Eve killings for Bokkos still fresh for mind. E must stop — Enough is Enough.”
He talk say every community must join hand with government to defend themselves within the law.
Dis action come after over 50 people die for Kimakpa village, Miango district, Bassa LGA, on April 14, when gunmen storm the area around 10pm, shoot anyhow, and destroy houses.
One survivor, Peter John, talk say:
“Dem no get specific target. Dem just dey shoot. I escape by climbing on top roof when dem enter our house.”
The attack happen just two weeks after similar bloodshed for Bokkos and Mangu LGAs, and authorities never still fit contain am. Plateau State don suffer from ethnic and land tension for years, and dis new order na part of effort to stop di killings.
