Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State don talk say he get the capacity and sense to be President of Nigeria if di time reach.
Makinde, wey dey serve him second term as PDP governor, talk this one for interview on Tuesday. He say di 2027 election no go be PDP vs APC matter, but na between Nigerians and the ruling APC government.
According to am:
“I no get doubt say I fit handle di highest political office for this country. But di question be say — na wetin Nigerians dey ask for now? Na wetin my party go gree make I do? We never know yet. Time still dey.”
He still talk say even if him political journey end now, e go still dey contented because he don serve well.
Right now, di opposition dey try form coalition to take power from President Tinubu for 2027. Atiku, with people like Peter Obi and El-Rufai, don form alliance since March 20, 2025.
Dem dey base their confidence on how Atiku and Obi combine get over 12 million votes for 2023 — more than Tinubu own, according to INEC.
But Makinde and other PDP governors reject the coalition Atiku dey lead. Dem say PDP never ready for merger or alliance yet — say party suppose fix itself first before dey call outsiders.
Makinde talk say:
“Everybody fit associate with anybody, na their right. But as for PDP, we need put our house in order first. You no fit dey invite people into your house when e scatter.”
Bode George, PDP big man, also support Makinde dem. Him own belief na say PDP suppose run with southern candidate come next election.
When dem ask Makinde whether him go contest presidency for 2027, he reply say:
“Nobody fit set agenda for me — na me go set my own. Right now, na Oyo State matter I dey focus on. I no dey play stunt politics. If I wan run, I go come out by myself at the right time.”
He add say:
“If I talk say I go do something, just know say I don ready. I no dey talk anyhow or chase clout. Anything I wan do, I dey prepare well and I go stand by am.”
