Based on di recommendation from di State Advisory Council on di Prerogative of Mercy, Aiyedatiwa order make dem release eight prisoners immediately. E still change di sentence of 15 people wey dey for death row to prison time, while 20 people wey dey serve life imprisonment get shorter jail terms.
Di announcement land through one statement wey di Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, sign, wey dem title “Inauguration: Gov Aiyedatiwa Extend Mercy to 43 Prisoners.”
Di statement show say di governor dey serious about justice reform. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo (SAN), hail di decision, say, “Dis one show say Governor Aiyedatiwa believe in second chance and say people fit change. E dey him hand to make sure say our justice system balance mercy with humanity.”
