Marketers Dey Complain Say Dem Dey Lose Money As NNPC Drop Petrol Price To ₦880 Per Litre

Fuel station owners don dey complain say dem dey lose money as NNPC reduce fuel price go ₦880 per litre for Lagos and ₦935 for Abuja.

Before, dem dey sell ₦925/₦950, but now many NNPC retail stations don drop their price on Easter Monday. This move happen just one week after Dangote Refinery also reduce their depot price from ₦865 to ₦835.

Dangote even direct say:

  • Make MRS, Heyden, Ardova sell for ₦890 in Lagos,
  • ₦900 for South West,
  • ₦910 for South-South,
  • ₦920 for North East.

But now, NNPC own price cheaper pass Dangote own by ₦10, and this fit spark another fuel price war between the two companies.

Some stations still dey sell old price because dem never finish their old stock.

Hammed Fashola, the Vice President of Independent Petroleum Marketers, confirm say:

“Yes, NNPC don reduce their pump price. But the truth be say marketers dey lose money.”

He talk say the price cut good for Nigerians, but na marketers dey suffer am:

“People dey enjoy cheaper fuel — na true. But we wey dey sell am, dey bleed money.”

He explain say na part of deregulation, and the only way marketers fit manage na to quick sell old stock, even if dem go reduce price small to limit their loss.

On whether fuel fit drop to ₦700–₦800, Fashola say:

“I no fit predict. Everything depend on crude oil price and exchange rate. If crude drop too low, e go affect government money too.”

The whole matter come after FG order say the naira-for-crude policy must continue without stopping — na why Dangote refinery reduce their price first.
