Na di Nigeria Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reveal dis one for dia February 2025 Consumer Price Index (CPI) report wey dem release on Monday.
According to NBS, di headline inflation rate reduce by 1.30% compared to di one wey dem record for January 2025.
“For February 2025, headline inflation rate don reduce to 23.18% compared to di January 2025 headline inflation rate of 24.48%.
“If we look di movement well, di February 2025 headline inflation rate reduce by 1.30% compared to di one for January 2025.
“On a year-on-year level, di headline inflation rate be 8.52% lower than di one wey dem record for February 2024 (31.70%).”
NBS talk say dis mean say year-on-year headline inflation rate don reduce for February 2025 compared to di same time for 2024.
Dem still add say month-on-month, di headline inflation rate for February 2025 stand at 2.04%.
For food inflation, NBS talk say di rate for February 2025 be 23.51% on a year-on-year basis.
Dem explain say dis one be 14.41% lower compared to di 37.92% wey dem record for February 2024.
Di Bureau talk say di big drop for food inflation rate dey mainly because dem change di base year, but month-on-month, di food inflation rate for February 2025 be 1.67%.
“Compared to January 2025, e get some food items like yam, potatoes, soya beans, maize flour, cassava, and Bambara beans wey price don reduce.
“Di average annual rate of food inflation for di twelve months wey end for February 2025 dey 34.74%, wey be 4.67% higher compared to di 30.07% wey dem record for February 2024.”
