Di detained leader of di banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, don write petition give di Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, make she tell di Chief Judge of di Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, to transfer im case go another judge wey get di correct jurisdiction.
For di letter wey Kanu legal team, led by Aloy Ejimakor, send give di CJN, dem talk say Justice Binta Nyako wey dey handle di case before don already remove herself from di matter because Kanu accuse am of bias.
Kanu dey face seven terrorism-related charges wey di Federal Government carry put for im head.
Ejimakor argue say according to law, once judge remove demself from case, dem no fit continue di matter again.
E beg di CJN make she use her power take make sure say dem assign di case to another judge.
“Once judge don remove demself from case, e mean say dem no fit continue di matter again. Any decision or ruling on dis kind withdrawal be like jurisdiction ruling, e no fit just change anyhow,” Ejimakor talk.
E still add say di matter fit affect how people see di judiciary, because if dem carry case go give judge wey don remove demself before, e fit make people no trust di court again.
“Public trust for court dey very important. If judge wey don leave case come back take handle am again, e go make people feel say di judge dey partial, and e fit make dem no believe for di judiciary again,” e talk.
Ejimakor still reveal say Kanu don report Justice Nyako go National Judicial Council (NJC) since January 14, 2025, and di petition still dey pending.
E beg di CJN make she use her power make sure say Kanu get fair trial, either by giving di case to another judge for Abuja or moving am go court for South-East.
