One eyewitness, James, tell News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) for Port Harcourt on Wednesday say di incident happen for Port Harcourt Township area.
E explain say because light no dey and heavy rain dey fall dat night, di couple decide to put di generator for inside passage of their apartment.
“Dem fit don reason say if dem put di generator for passage, e no go affect dem for bedroom,” James talk.
By Saturday morning, neighbors begin worry as di couple never comot from their room.
Afta dem knock di door and no get response, dem break enter di apartment, only to see di lifeless bodies of di couple.
Di mata later reach Central Police Station for Port Harcourt Township.
SP Grace Iringe-Koko, wey be spokesperson for di Rivers State Police Command, confirm say di couple die from carbon monoxide inhalation.
She talk say dem don carry di bodies go mortuary.
Dr. Chinazor Offor, one medical expert for Port Harcourt, explain say carbon monoxide dey block oxygen from entering di blood, wey fit cause heart and respiratory failure.
“If person inhale di gas for between five to 15 minutes, e fit stop di heart from pumping blood, wey go later affect di brain and breathing system,” she talk.
She advise people make dem no dey put generator near their house, say di best na to keep am far to avoid toxic smoke.
