Seven Oil Companies Go Pay $37.4m Debt Before August — Reps

House of Representatives don talk say dem don get commitment from seven oil companies wey gree pay $37.4 million wey dem owe Federation Account before August 2025.

For statement wey dem release on Sunday, Reps spokesperson, Akin Rotimi, talk say di companies make dis pledge as Public Accounts Committee dey run investigation.

“Di commitment come after di Committee check di financial records of Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), wey show say some royalty payments and reconciliation process get plenty gap,” Rotimi talk.

Di money wey dem go pay na part of di ₦9 trillion wey Auditor General for di Federation query for him 2021 report wey dem submit give National Assembly. Some of di debts don accumulate for like four years, and e don show say oil and gas sector dey lose plenty money.

Rotimi still talk say apart from dis seven companies, di Committee don discover say 45 oil and gas companies still dey owe $1.7 billion (₦2.5 trillion) as unpaid royalty payments as of December 31, 2024.

Di seven companies wey don gree say dem owe and go pay before August 2025 na:

  1. Belema Oil
  2. Panocean Oil Nigeria Ltd
  3. Newcross Exploration & Production Ltd
  4. Dubri Oil Company Ltd
  5. Chorus Energy
  6. Amni International
  7. Network Exploration

Meanwhile, nine companies wey dey owe $429.2 million don challenge di figures, and dem don request make dem do reconciliation with NUPRC to confirm di real amount wey dem owe. Dem include:

  1. Aradel/Niger Delta
  2. Chevron
  3. STAR DEEP
  4. Shore Line
  5. Seplat Producing Unlimited
  6. Esso Erha
  7. Esso Usan
  8. Eroton Exploration
  9. Seplat Energy

Di Committee don give dem two weeks to do di reconciliation, after dat, dem go pay di confirmed debt without delay.

Apart from dem, 28 oil companies wey dey owe $1,230,708,293.14 never show up or respond to public notice. Dem include:

  3. All Grace Energy
  4. Amalgamated Oil Company Nigeria Limited
  5. Total E&P Nigeria (OML 100, 102, 52 & 99)

  10. Continental Oil & Gas Company Ltd
  11. Energia Limited
  12. First E&P Ltd
  13. Frontier Oil Limited
  14. General Hydrocarbons Limited
  15. Green Energy International Ltd
  16. Nigeria Agip Exploration Ltd (NAE)
  17. Neconde Energy Limited
  18. Nigeria Petroleum Development Company (NPDC) – OML 60, 61 & 63
  19. Lekoil Oil and Gas Investments Limited
