Tinubu Suppose Bring Back Fubara, Administrator No Follow Law – NBA

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) don stand by dia position say di removal of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, by President Bola Tinubu no follow law, and dem don call on di President to reverse di decision immediately.

On Tuesday, President Tinubu declare state of emergency for Rivers State, suspend di governor, deputy governor, and House of Assembly members, and appoint Ibok-Ete Ibas, a retired naval chief, as sole administrator of di state.

Di NBA President, Afam Osigwe, wey yarn for Sunday Politics, talk say di constitution no recognize Sole Administrator, so Fubara must return as governor.

“Na wetin we believe be dat. We dey expect di President to restore am (Fubara) back to power because e no follow constitution remove am,” Osigwe talk.

E still add say, “Even when I see di new administrator dey take oath, I dey wonder which kind oath e dey take because di constitution no recognize am.”

Osigwe, wey be Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), talk say di wahala for Rivers State dey get wrong solution. According to am, “E be like person wey use sledgehammer break e own head because e get headache.”

E insist say di measures wey dem dey take no be democratic, e dey excessive, and e no follow constitution. E talk say di matter na political crisis, and only political solution go fit end am.

Some people don claim say Section 305 of di 1999 Constitution get loophole wey President Tinubu use take action, but Osigwe reject dat argument. “Di constitution dey clear, na people just dey deliberately twist am,” e talk.

Even though di National Assembly don approve di state of emergency, Osigwe say dat approval no legitimize di President’s action. “E be like say dem put something on top of nothing,” e add.
