We No Go Answer Assembly Ultimatum, Rivers Govt Talk

Di Rivers State Government don react to di 48-hour ultimatum wey di State House of Assembly, under Speaker Martins Amaewhule, give Governor Siminalayi Fubara to re-present di 2025 Appropriation Bill.

For dia response, di government talk say dem no go comply with di ultimatum because dem never receive any official letter wey carry di summon.

On Monday, di House of Assembly give Fubara 48 hours to bring di appropriation bill based on di Supreme Court judgement. Dem come send di decision go meet di governor for letter wey dem date March 3rd, wey Amaewhule sign. Di ultimatum expire today, Wednesday.

But di state government, for letter wey dem address to di Right Honourable Speaker of di Rivers State House of Assembly on March 5th, talk say dem never see di Assembly resolution. Di Secretary to di State Government (SSG), Dr. Tammy Danagogo, wey sign di letter, talk say dem only see di letter for social media.

Di government talk say: “As at di close of work on Tuesday, 4th March, 2025, we never receive di letter. Di office of di governor, di deputy governor, and di Accountant-General of di state never see di letter.”

Di government remind di House say di governor, for im state broadcast on March 2nd, don already talk say, even though e get im own opinion about di Supreme Court judgement, as law-abiding citizen, e go obey and implement di decision for di best interest of Rivers people.

Di letter still add say: “We don already dey work with our lawyers, wey still dey wait for di certified true copy of di Supreme Court judgement. We wan reassure una and all Rivers people say once di governor receive di judgement, e go do wetin e suppose do for di best interest of di people.”
