Samuel Chukwueze Could Miss Europa League Final Against Man United Through Injury
Samuel Chukwueze is a doubt for Villarreal’s Europa League final game against Manchester United later this month.
The 21-year-old pulled a muscle in the second leg of the Yellow Submarines clash at the Emirates last Thursday and is now a huge doubt to miss the biggest game of their season.
A medical report put out by the club confirmed that the Nigerian suffered ‘muscle damage’ and is now running a race against time to be fit for the showdown which will go down on May 26 in Gdansk, Poland.
“Samuel suffered muscle damage in the anterior rectus of the left leg, the recovery time is according to the evolution of the player,” the statement read.
Chukwueze has been a key player in Villarreal’s progress to the final of UEFA’s second-tier competition and would be a big miss if he is unable to recover on time for the game.
The winger has played 11 of the Spanish Giant’s 14 games in the competition and assisted the first goal in their 2-1 win in the semi-finals.
Villarreal’s boss, Unai Emery is still hopeful of having the former U-17 World Champion available for selection.
