ASUU ‘conditionally’ suspends strike after ten months

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has suspended its strike of ten months.

ASUU said its member decided to return to classes on the condition that the Federal Government will keep its own side of the agreement they reached.

Part of the agreements is that no ASUU member shall be made to suffer by any means for taking part in the strike, which started on March 23, 2020.

National President of ASUU, Professor BIODUN OGUNYEMI, said ASUU took the decision at a meeting of its National Executive Committee on Tuesday.

Professor OGUNYEMI, while addressing a news conference in Abuja today, warned that ASUU will resume the strike without notice if government failed to honour the agreements they reached.

The ASUU President also thanked students and parents for their support while the strike lasted over the past ten months.

However; Professor BIODUN OGUNYEMI said ASUU condemned some Vice Chancellors of universities who tried to break the strike.
