Banditry: Nigerian troops report successes

The Nigerian Military has continued to record success in the battle against armed bandits in the northwestern part of the country.

In the latest operations by troops of Operation Sahel Unity, between August 30 and September 12, some bandits were killed; some were arrested, while many kidnapped victims were rescued.

The suspects include ISAH SHEHU, ABUBAKAR IBRAHIM, and IBRAHIM SULE, who was caught at Koha village, in Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State with over one point five-million-naira cash.

Seventeen armed members of Yansakai group of bandits from Kebbi State, were also caught as they were traveling on seven motorcycles at Danmarke village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Soldiers also rescued two women who were believed to have been kidnapped by bandits at Faskari, in Katsina State.

The Acting Director of Defence Media Operation, Brigadier General BENARD ONYEUKO, further disclosed that a bandit leader identified as SADA surrendered to troops and submitted three AK-47 rifles, one Sub Machine Gun and 2 magazines.

In Plateau State; troops arrested a suspected illegal arms supplier named USMAN IBRAHIM from Ryom, in Barkin Ladi, with eight hundred and ninety rounds of special ammunition and the sum of two million, two hundred and thirty thousand naira.
