Court grants bail to 5 EndSARS protesters, plus journalist

Five EndSARS protesters who were arrested by security operatives at the National Assembly in Abuja on Friday, November 6, 2020, have been released.
YAZIRU BASHIRU, ABDULSALAM SUBERU, KABIRU GAZALI, PAUL AKINWUNMI, and DAVO CHOMO were granted bail by an Abuja Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Chief Magistrates ABDULRAZAK ENEYE of Wuse Zone-Two granted bail to the EndSARS protesters in the sum of fifty thousand naira each, plus sureties also in the sum of fifty thousand naira each.

The Chief Magistrate also granted bail to a female journalist, OLUWATOSIN ADENIJI, who was arrested while covering the renewed EndSARS demonstration.

The Chief Magistrate approved the release of the six persons after hearing the bail application filed by their lawyer, and ordered them to appear in court on January 25, 2020 for trial.

Outside the courtroom, the lawyer for the EndSARS protesters, TOPE AKINYODE, said the bail conditions for his clients were easy to meet.
