Covid-19 Task Force gets extension, as Ease-of-Lockdown enters 3rd phase

President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has extended the mandate of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 till December this year.

President BUHARI also approved the third phase of the ease-of-lockdown in the national response to the COvid-19 pandemic, which is to last four weeks.

These latest developments were announced by the Chairman of the PTF and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, BOSS MUSTAPHA, during a media briefing in Abuja.

BOSS MUSTAPHA said the PTF believes that Nigeria has made significant progress in the response to Covid-19, but not enough for full reopening of the economy.

Meanwhile; the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 has removed the restrictions on opening days for markets.

The PTF has also removed all restrictions on interstate and intrastate transportation, provided that the operators observe Covid-19 safety guidelines.

The National Coordinator of the PTF, ALIYU SANI, also announced private companies are now free to decide whether to return their full staff back to work.

SANI also said amusement parks, gyms and cinema, and outdoor event centres can reopen, while bars and night clubs are to remain closed.

He said religious centres would continue to maintain the existing arrangements, while schools are to begin preparations for reopening.
