The Federal Government has asked medical doctors in Cross River State to end their strike and return to work.
The Federal Government has also sent a delegation to meet with the Cross River State Government to discuss plans for the setting up of Covid-19 response strategy.
The Minister of Health, Doctor OSAGIE EHANIRE, made this known during a media briefing in Abuja by the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19.
The Health Minister advised citizens to play their role in the fight against Covid-19, adding that government cannot do it alone.
On his part; the Chairman of the PTF, BOSS MUSTAPHA, said the high number of confirmed Covid-19 cases among government officials was affecting governance in the country.
Meanwhile; the Director General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Doctor CHIKWE IHEKWEAZU, said a new guideline has been developed for the conduct of elections in the country.
Also; the Federal Government has announced that the Senior School Certificate Examination of the West African Examinations Council, WAEC, will hold from August 4 to September 5.
The Minister of State for Education, EMEKA NWAJIUBA, state governments are free to reopen schools for the participating students to prepare for the examinations.
