COVID19 Lockdown: FG approves reopening of Economy; retains Curfew, Ban on Travenls

The next phase of the easing of the lockdown to check the spread of the new Coronavirus in Nigeria will last for four weeks.

The Federal Government has therefore approved the full reopening of the economy, as both government and private offices are allowed to maintain up to seventy percent of their work force.

Hotels are allowed to reopen but must observe Covid-19 containment guidelines, while eateries are not allowed to entertain in-house dinners.

Personal service operators, such as hair saloon and barbers are to open, but would have to be monitored to ensure compliance with the guidelines.

During the period; the ban on interstate travels will remain, but all restrictions on the movement of goods and essential services have been removed.

The nationwide curfew will continue, but reduced by four hours, and will now run from 10PM to 4AM daily.

The Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 also said places of worship and markets can reopen under existing guideline.

Chairman of the Task Force, BOSS MUSTAPHA also said the gathering of more than twenty persons outside places of worship remains banned.

Also speaking; the National Coordinator of the PTF, SANI ALIYU, said that schools will remain closed until further evaluations over the next four weeks.

Meanwhile; domestic flights in Nigeria are expected to resume in the next three weeks.

However; this would depend on efforts by domestic airline operators to meet the guidelines on Covid-19.

National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force said the restriction on interstate travels would be reviewed once the airlines resume operations.
